The solution now allows contractors and visitors to sign-in, self induct and print verification badges with the ease of a touch screen Kiosk. FMG’s main focus for this kiosk was to capture and retain information off the visitor’s drivers licence when a user comes on site. The kiosk’s main use was for contractors to complete training modules, Visitor and Staff sign on and inductions.

Smart Hardware

CREATIKS Hardware designed and manufactured a solution where FMG needed to capture License and passport information through one of our OCR Readers. The scanner uses a powerful camera with no moving parts. The scanner is a compact device optimised to be integrated into kiosks. This is the optimal solution for scanning driver’s licenses, health care cards, visitor badges, passports etc. They are suitable for various applications by using user defined OCR functions it is possible to read and capture the data and images from an ID.

CREATIKS Hardware’s main focus was to meet the needs of FMG’s request to scan licenses. Through our extensive knowledge in engineering and creativity of our design team, we had to come up with an aesthetically pleasing kiosk that met the needs of technology. Extensive research and testing of several different scanners was vital as each scanner had its different and unique software, not only did it have to function correctly with our kiosk, it had to integrate with FMG’S established platforms. CREATIKS managed to keep the sleek look of the kiosk making it another ready to roll out kiosk for future clients requiring the need for ID scanning.

Sydney Markets main focus for this solution was to capture and retain information of contractors while also notifying Management when a visitor comes on site, staff sign on and visitor and contractor inductions.

Documenting the arrival of visitor and contractor names, times and who they are visiting is not only a sign of a well organised company, it has been a long time requirement under the Work Health and Safety Act. Considering the act also says that employers are responsible for ensuring the safety of all site visitors in an emergency, its easy to imagine why keeping track of all visitors is critical.

Visitors and contractors are clearly identified by displaying a Visitor ID pass prominently on their outer clothing. This will enable workers to be aware of their presence in the workplace and, importantly, will assist in the visitor’s safe evacuation from the site in the event of an emergency.

The Solution

Everyday Sydney Markets have over 1000 forklifts operational and tenants on site everyday, the emphasis on safety awareness is vital. The decision to move forward with current technology in safety systems was a move in the right direction for Sydney Markets to improve the workflow using TIKS safety’s visitor and contractor management. This has given Sydney Markets the ability to move away from paper based sign in books and inductions to then give the flexibility of updating inductions while also downloading monthly reports, saving hours of manual data entry.

Sydney Markets is continuing to improve their safety systems across both Homebush and Haymarket sites. TIKS Safety will continue to work with Sydney Markets in improving the safety systems being implemented into the next phase of their project.

CREATIKS and TIKS are proud to have been part of the exciting new refurbishment to Sydney Markets Building in Homebush and Paddy’s markets new Information centre in Haymarket. Changes in technology have resulted in outdated workflows. The refurbishment will ensure the Markets remain fit for purpose into the future by adding significant technology such as VMS hardware to support contractor and visitor registration and digital signage to promote updates on events at the markets and safety messages.

SCHÜTZ selected CREATIKS hardware and Australia’s leading health and safety application platform - TIKS Safety, as their Visitor Management solution.

The solution allows SCHÜTZ to pre-qualify their contractors prior to site arrival as well as allow visitors and staff to sign-in, self induct and print verification badges with the ease of a touch screen kiosk or VMS stand. SCHÜTZ also had a requirement for access control, meaning the use of Licence Plate Recognition scanners (LPR) to scan trucks gaining access and exiting the site.

Access control using LPR technology was a first for CREATIKS Hardware and TIKS Safety. After diving into the project TIKS had to develop a solution where the AOpenLPR software would integrate with the TIKS platform. The Hardware behind the solution was sourced by CREATIKS who worked very closely with TIKS’ software team testing the device to ensure it delivered a seamless solution.

How it works.

With the use of our Kiosk and VMS software, access for truck drivers have to come on site and sign in on our Visitor Management Device to gain access and self induct. After being on site and carrying out their work, the LPR cameras read the number plates of the trucks which will automatically sign the contractor out and open the security gates to exit.

SCHÜTZ now have two amazing products from CREATIKS Hardware and TIKS Safety where not only do they know what visitor or contractor is on site at any given time, but also added security with access control from vehicles entering and exiting their site at any given time.

CREATIKS have been pioneering this technology right here in Australia and are proud to have worked with City of Ryde Library to create a unique and engaging experience to their Library. The new interactive tables allow the diverse cultural community to read content from their home country and in the language they can understand. CREATIKS Interactive Tables are a fantastic opportunity that will deliver endless amounts of reading material while encouraging reading and community engagement, all within an enjoyable experience.

City of Ryde Library also chose to have their online catalogue system installed onto the interactive tables, OverDrive is a free service offered by the library or school that lets you borrow digital content (like eBooks and Audiobooks) anytime, anywhere. Every OverDrive collection is slightly different because each library or school chooses the digital content they want for their users.

CREATIKS Hardware sourced and supplied Fairfax Media with specific printer hardware to suit the requirements of currently used identification lanyards. Thermal badge sizes come in many forms and sizes, our requirements were to keep with the thermal self adhesive badges whilst keeping to the specified size of the currently used lanyards.

The reason for CREATIKS to ensure the outcome of this specific hardware is that Fairfax Media’s multi tenancy building has several different companies situated within the building, Where Fairfax visitors and staff are identified by using the lanyards with the printed badges inside. The remaining visitors and staff that are visiting or working at the other existing tenants are identified by the self adhesive badges that are printed out and stuck onto the exterior of their clothing.

CREATIKS Hardware use the brother 810W printer with their tablet mounted solution, having a lot of great benefits, this printer is the choice of hardware in most cases. Given this change in requirement, we were required to source another option as the Brother printer does not support many badge sizes.

Following the required badge size measurements we were given, CREATIKS decided to use a Citizen direct thermal printer. These extremely sturdy printers are used in our 19” visitor kiosks, they are extremely reliable and support many different paper sizes which is what we required. Given that the printer inside our 19” kiosk are a semi industrial looking printer, we opted for the desktop version keeping with the elegant look in Fairfax Media’s foyer

The Act also provides that visitors have a clear responsibility to observe the safety regulations of the workplace and to conduct themselves in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves and all others in the workplace.

It requires that visitors are advised of the organisation’s expectations regarding safety and be made aware of any potential hazards before they enter the premises. Many organisations will also want to make the visitor aware of certain company rules and regulations that may be important to their particular work site.

For an organisation to comply with these requirements it is critical that two distinct procedures are adopted in regard to visitors in the workplace: –

The organisation must have a system in place that adequately advises visitors of all safety regulations, workplace hazards and specific regulations prior to their entry into the workplace.

CREATIKS are proud to have been part of the exciting new refurbishment to Newcastle City Library. It has completely transformed its main collection space and carry the venue into the future. Improvements since the last refurbishment 20 years ago have been ad hoc and changes in technology have resulted in outdated workflows. The refurbishment will ensure the library remains fit for purpose into the future by redesigning the layout, adding significant technology activity areas and creating multiple zones for different uses. This project is funded by a $200,000 Infrastructure Grant from the NSW State Library and an additional $700,000 from Council.

CREATIKS were commissioned to install a range of new hardware and software solutions included our new Touch+Play interactive kids table, Digital Signage and even an interactive table for news press and articles.

Earlier this year, CREATIKS were given the opportunity to be part of a new roll out for Newcastle City Library. The entire roll out was a custom project to suit the interior design and layout of the newly refurbished library.

Newcastle City Council had very thoughtfully chosen a range of styles, colours and furniture to complete the Library transformation. CREATIKS gathered all colours palettes, furniture specifications and library blue prints to ensure the technology was seamlessly incorporated into the new layout and so that all equipment will be embraced by the public.

The Style: Clean lines, Modern

All mounted touch-screens come with a 10-point touch, clean crisp edge-to-edge glass and flush bracketing to ensure all screens mounted perfectly into the end of each library shelving unit. Cabling was perfectly concealed within the variety of mounted touch screens and interactive touch tables. Furniture was also considered when designing our interactive touch tables for Newcastle Library as we wanted to ensure all chairs would be placed comfortably within the tables when occupied and vacant.

The Colours: Warm, Timber, Natural

CREATIKS created all the Interactive Touch Tables within the library using a Laminex timber finish that was very nicely incorporated into the rest of new library furniture, creating a seamless look throughout the entire library. With the unique design of interactive touch tables for Newcastle City Library we were given the opportunity to create matching tables using the same Laminex finish which was a perfect addition of furniture to the library.

It goes without saying that Newcastle City Council did a fantastic job at transforming the Library and CREATIKS were very proud to share this experience and look forward to watching the technology space be embraced by the community.
